What would you do if the lead wraps you up in weed? Because the lead cant free it self! Your left with the carp on the rig and you locked up tight! But if the lead was fixed on with 2lb bs then you would have a far better chance getting the carp out the weed!

I'd rather fight with the weed than potentially tethering the carp up. Keep the lead a 'stream line' shaped lead to reduce that as an issue!?

Also, if you did use your idea, what stops the hook link coming off where the lead was??

Also, if you did use your idea, what stops the hook link coming off where the lead was?? You have a quick link on the end of your leader and with that it cant come off because its bigger than the eye on the swivel which your rig is on.

Sorry, not with you mate? How can the carp become tethered with loseing the lead off a chod set up? Because its not just the lead that can get teathered! 1) we use leaders for "generally" for weight to sink therefore rendering the rig less "in the face" 2) we use leaders "generally" for strength and abrasion properties. 3) leaders are "normally" heavier than mainline......so once the lead has been "dumped", the carp will "STILL" pull those leaders around, until the hook either falls out or it gets teathered on an object. you could argue the toss that even if we dont use a leader, your mainline will do exactly the same...but "generally" the mainline has a lighter BS, not so abrassive therefore it should be safer... But going back to my original point... There is NO ...100% safe rig, leader or not.....its more a case of reducing the "Risk"

In a nut shell Somewhere on one of the stanwick threads it say's i will never use leadcore again & i'll still stand by that. I dont really like it & it's too stiff. imo it can't lay right over the top of weed. Is it me.....But does'nt a running rig have the longest hooklinks in the world!! In a manor of speaking it goes all the way upto your reel? (Think about it) Just a thought

(Think about it) Just a thought Thats a strange way to look at it Dodge....a running rig is no real difference to a "normal" rig apart from its "free Running"...the Hooklink wouldnt be any different to the "Norm".... Dum arse...lol
