These guidelines are from the ccmoore website!! Worth knowing if some of you are unsure

Bird seed mixes must NOT contain peanuts. These may be hazardous to the fish. Please note...Ive bin down my local pet store & some DO contain peanuts!!!!!! 'SO PLEASE CHECK THE CONTENS ON THE PACKET' Dont use these for fishing.
NOTES
1. Peanuts MUST be human grade, non-human grade nuts may contain Aflotoxin fungus, which KILLS FISH. If in doubt, dont use them, or buy peanuts from the Supermarket still in their shells.
2. Tiny particles such as hemp, wheat, barley, dair, rapeseed, or mixes of tiny bird seeds, can also be prepared by putting in a lidded bucket or cool box overnight, with boiling water added. But you can boil if you want, doing so will bring out all the flavours otherwise locked in.
