Question for Joss at poacherbaits.................... When doing a 48hr stint i allways take my boillies out the freezer & put them in a air-dry bag & keep them in there on a tree. What if i was to keep them in a cool bag instead I guess they stay fresher this way & dont go hard, but is this better

well ill tell you what i do lads....wrong or right, but i have had no problems with bait doing this.
my freezer baits come freshly rolled, and not frozen. big difference i think to buying baits that are already frozen...i mean...you dont know how many times they have been frozen..i.e after rolling?....then by the shop/or guy u get them off?.....then you freeze them...... so ideally you need to know if you have got the fresh after rolling.
so i take them from the freezer when i go fishing and they go into an air dry bag, where they will hang in the tree. (the drying/hardening process can be slowed down by keeping them in the shade out of direct sun and also wind, plus if they dry too quick they will crack and split when put out in a throwing stick.)
at the end of the session i will either bait up with any unused bait or...if it is the first time out of the freezer i have no qualms about re-freezing.
these baits will then be the first ones used on the next session and will never be re-frozen.
i have kept boilies in air dry bags for up to a week when fishing in france...(ok they do go hard but if this bothers you then they can always be re-hydrated.)
as for keeping in a cool bag, they will remain cool but also damp and i have found that this is when they start to 'go' on the turn, u know...going white, not smelling so fresh...so this is not my choice.
anyway, that what i do, and will continue to do....no doubt you will hear other opinions that conflict with what i have told you...but its your choice to make

Sorry....ive only just seen this thread and its been running for ages. i personally try and keep them as fresh/cool as possible. un less im using tiger n maple, then i take them out the freezer a few days before, leave them in a sealed bag and sweat them up a bit...

Yes its fine to re freeze...i personally dont, but im lucky as i dont have to pay for bait...so dont listen to anyone who says you cant re freeze...its not true
freezing is a preserving method...but in saying that over a period of time it can delete nutrition...but the percentage of this is mininmal, so dont worry about it

Thanks joss, and very interesting about the re-freeze thing! In the mags they allways say we can do it once or never!
